About Me:
The Vintage Racing League is the leading online community for people who love racing and cars. Its free to join.
Members connect with people that share a love of specific marques or types of cars (e.g. Vintage, Historic, Classic, Antique,Formula Ford, Can-Am, Trans-Am, GT and/or Historic Formula One cars).
The VRL helps members find difficult to locate parts, restoration resources, race events and car clubs in your area.
You can exchange pictures and race videos and find "same car soulmates".
I look forward to seeing some of your vintage race video's.
FYI - I'm the co-founder of The Vintage Racing League.
I owned and raced a 1975 Crossle Formula Ford. I currently own and race a 1980 March Formula Atlantic and intend to rebuild and race a 1977 Shadow DN8 F1 car.
I race with CVAR in the Southwest.
I live in Dallas.
VRL Factoids:
An estimated 4 million people in the USA own Vintage, Historic, Classic and Antique cars (10 million world-wide).
The USA is home to 79 million Baby Boomers. Every day, 50,000 retire.
There are 27 Vintage Race Clubs in the US that stage an estimated 170 events per year.
Today, approximately 30,000 members in the 27 Clubs race Vintage cars.
We want to get more people into Vintage racing and a primary purpose of this site is dedicated to that goal.
Even if people do not race, they are welcome to attend events and learn more about the compelling nature of motorsports and it's history..

About: WWW.THEVRL.COM
We created a place where owners and lovers of vintage, historic, classic and antique cars could find each other, exchange pictures, videos and information about how to fix, restore, and race cars.
Ask your friends to join the Vintage Racing League @ www.thevrl.com.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't have any videos as I don't think anyone back then bothered to take video. I'm lucky to have still photos.
I'm about to send my app into SCCA to renew a comp license. Now all I need to do is find someone with a car who needs a good shoe.
My problem when I raced was never having sponsors so I had to pay my own way with about $100 week salary. I had to live with my parents to be able to afford to race. So winning ANY races (much less the B Prod regional championship) was a Hurculean effort. But even Vintage racers spend more than I ever had to spend. But the fire never went out. Wish me luck!

    Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the welcome and the birthday wish. I will get to work on the page shortly and check into the various groups. I just discovered the VRL last night. The link was on a Lime Rock Park e-mail. First time I remember seeing it. Figured I just had to check it out. Glad I did.
I have photos to post but, alas, no video. Not yet anyway.
    Best regards
    Tom

    Hello, Stephen!
Yes, it was about time I joined the site! You sent me the information some months ago. The last 4 or 5 months have been difficult and busy, but things are getting more organized and look good.
I'll try to add more photos and get in contact with the Datsun gang.
Hope we can share the racetrack some day. Do you come to Southern California at all?
Let me know if there's something I can do for you.
    Warmest regards.

    Stephen:

I will probably get some updates to my home page on the site this weekend. Seeing the pictures of Aston Martins on your site reminded me that my father had a DB-2 Vantage drop-head coupe, left hand drive, which I worked on and drove extensively while a freshman at Johns Hopkins. I have also owned a Morgan Plus-4, but never owned any race cars with fenders other than half-interest in the Turner 950S that I drove in my first SCCA driver's school.

You can see a few pictures of my race cars at http://www.celestial.com/Members/bill/images

As soon as I get some spare time I will do so. I've gotten quite a number of friends to join as well. All of us are an informal group of Marlboro Park Speedway (MD) veterans. Marlboro closed at the end of the 1969 SCCA season.
  • Suzanne Hefni-Pyle

Hi Stephen, thanks so much and I see you own a 1975 Silver Shadow RR. On my 1989 Silver Spur the battery is new and car will not hold charge, think my alternator is shot. Rather than tow to the shop, do you think it would hurt any components in the car to jump start it? If you have ever experienced problem like this with yours?
  • Fersan Haddad

    Hello Stephen,
    Thanks for your welcome.
I will try to work on my page as soon as I get some free time.

Thanks Stephen, I have a mile of rare video footage here and of corse all my photography stuff. Just need to find time.
So many beautifull cars on this site.
  • Mitch Berkowitz

Thanks Stephen! Will send some pix and add avatar soon. Haven't had time to check out the site much yet. In my ignorance ( aand lack of free time right now) I ask: Is there a place to sell cars on the site?
  • Mitch Berkowitz

Whoops! Lazy question self-answered. Another one- can a later street car easily modified for track be listed. (ie- my 89 Eurospec Porsche 944 Turbo, left hand drive originally sold in Japan- an almost unique car in the US, being not only Eurospec, but without the sunroof-an extreme rarity in the US.)

Thanks for the warm welcome Stephen. I'm just finding my way around the site and have a question. Is there a way to look up folks in Austin, TX to chat with locals where I live or keep up with local events and happenings?
  • Andy Schor

Thanks for the welcome, Stephen. I have enjoyed vintage racing for several years. Through the PVGP, my mechanic (who works on several vintage race cars) and some very gracious driver/owners, I have the opportunity to become more involved. I am looking forward to going to The Glen.

    Thank you for the welcome.
It took me a litltle while to realise that the images would always be cropped unless square and, given the continent that the site is aimed at, it might have been better if I had left it truncated without the 'guards on show. My apologies to any rodders wandering by.

    Hi Stephen,

Do you have a logo that is closer to 144 wide? Or can I "lift" one and resize it myself? I'm going to put the link on my site and need that width to fit the space we talked about early this week.

Also, I started my Group, but how do I get a frame in the text box to show my website like the other groups have (like Taylor Engineering e.g.)?

Stephen with your technical hat on I have another problem on the Mini Group site. When I try to put something up on the site The Official Mini Website loads on top of it and if I go back it keeps doing it. Maybe you could have a look at it. I don't know who put up the Advertising for the Official Mini Website or where it comes from but it is interfering with the Group site. many thanks Conor
  • Ray Turner

Hi Stephen, have tried to add some photos, but no luck so far, will try again later. The closest I am going to get to a Shadow DN8 are the 1/43rd scale models I am going to build - recently got Pryce's 1976 late season car and Jones' 1977 Austrian GP winner. I build a lot of 1/43rd models (over 350 and mainly open wheelers, GP, Indy, F5000, as well as Can-Am and Le Mans racers). I am also waiting for the just released models of the DN6 from the US F5000 series. Talk soon. Regards, Ray.

    Hello Stephen,
Thank you for adding me as a friend on your cool site! I look forward to spending more time here, when I'm not wrenching on my project vehicles or cranking out articles for Redline Review (www.RedlineReview.com - will be live later this summer).

Best, Brian P.S. I hope you don't mind the Redline Review plug. :)
