The VRL helps members find difficult to locate parts, restoration resources, race events and car clubs in your area.
You can exchange pictures and race videos and find "same car soulmates".
I look forward to seeing some of your vintage race video's.
FYI - I'm the co-founder of The Vintage Racing League.
I owned and raced a 1975 Crossle Formula Ford. I currently own and race a 1980 March Formula Atlantic and intend to rebuild and race a 1977 Shadow DN8 F1 car.
I race with CVAR in the Southwest.
I live in Dallas.
VRL Factoids:
An estimated 4 million people in the USA own Vintage, Historic, Classic and Antique cars (10 million world-wide).
The USA is home to 79 million Baby Boomers. Every day, 50,000 retire.
There are 27 Vintage Race Clubs in the US that stage an estimated 170 events per year.
Today, approximately 30,000 members in the 27 Clubs race Vintage cars.
We want to get more people into Vintage racing and a primary purpose of this site is dedicated to that goal.
Even if people do not race, they are welcome to attend events and learn more about the compelling nature of motorsports and it's history..

Why not have a Historic Formula One section, we Europeans don't have enough contact with the US owners and drivers

  • David Brill

Thanx for the welcome. Been leaning more and more back to my roots so to speak. Several years back I raced SCCA Autocross but I have always loved the vintage stuff. I am picking up a 74 Jaguar XJ6L this weekend. The owner is actually giving it to me. Although I may not take it racing it will definitely be set up to drive. It definitely needs some work (like the passenger floor board is almost non existent, but thats what sheet metal and welders are made for) I'll take pix this weekend and see if I can figure out how to get them posted to the site/my page, etc.
Thanx again and I look fwd to attending (and who knows, possibly entering in) several events this year. Do you have a saloon class? Is 74 considered "vintage" enough?

Steve, I think that I am out of place here. My cars along with all of my friends don't know how to turn a corner in a race.We have none.
  • David Coyote

    Stephen,

I plan to do just that. Just need a bit of free time here - trying to cover all of the corners at once.

Thanks! I have hundreds of photos of 1950's racing cars and SCCA programs which I'll post over time. No, not the same Reuter. Your site is very intriguing!

Thanks Stephen - As follows " Rolex 24 Hours - each year has an event for sports car owners called Milestones. On Friday/Saturday of race weekend (Jan. 23,24), participants gather in the Daytona 500 Club, first for a breakfast briefing on driving the road course, given by vintage racer Murray Smith. Next a tour of the race garages, followed by lunch and an interview and Q&A with racing legend and Grand Marshal Brian Redman. On Saturday morning all participants will do two parade laps of the road course.
Milestones also provides weekend parking and seating in the Pit Road Patios by turn one. Cost for the weekend, including Milestones, is $185./person. Contact RT Hall at 2295638824 for tickets and details." Fred Jackson

    Hello Stephen,

I plan to open my own auto/antique restoration and race prep business in the next few months. How can I get my business listed with the "services" area of your site at that time?

Also, I will be starting a Non-Profit organization that gives High-school and college people the opportunity to be part of a race team. There they can learn engineering, management, business, marketing, journalism, etc, etc. I'm thinking of using a modern carbon tubbed formula car and a 60's vintage racer so they can learn both ends. Any thoughts on how I can promote this teaching organization here?

    Thanks Stephen,

    Casey Putsch

Hi Sephen, just a comment, a lot of new members are joning with no name and in some cases just a number. I would suggest that if they want to join that the should give their name publically and a certain amount of information.
Could it not be obligatory to fill in a certain number of the boxes on the information page and where they are and what interests in order to be listed as a member ?
That way you have some control over who is involved on the site.
Just a thought, hope you don't mind the question and suggestion.

    Conor
  • Mike Chung

Thanks for your welcome! Hope to be making connections to go on a vintage car track day/race some time this year when the weather gets milder here in New England.
  • Bruce B Miller

    Good Morning Stehen!
I've added a photo book to the mix. I'm starting to work on a 2010 Vintage Calendar. Plans are to find 12 drivers/owners that would like to be in the calendar and who are willing to buy 100 copies in advance. They would get a month with nothing but their car in action and their team information. It would be a 11X17 one page calendar. If you know anyone who may be interested, let me know or have them contact me.

When the Marconi's started the vintage event in Tustin, I was one of the photographers. I've also shot the Palm Springs Street program.

Many of your members may rember the black photographer that was always their when they did something dumb.

It nice that a site like this one has been started. Good luck and I will be posting more images. I will see what I can do with the cars here at Daytona. I'm here for the 24 hour event and should be able to get a few nice shots of the vintage machines.

    Thanks
    Bruce B Miller
