You can exchange pictures and race videos and find "same car soulmates".
I look forward to seeing some of your vintage race video's.
FYI - I'm the co-founder of The Vintage Racing League.
I owned and raced a 1975 Crossle Formula Ford. I currently own and race a 1980 March Formula Atlantic and intend to rebuild and race a 1977 Shadow DN8 F1 car.
I race with CVAR in the Southwest.
I live in Dallas.
VRL Factoids:
An estimated 4 million people in the USA own Vintage, Historic, Classic and Antique cars (10 million world-wide).
The USA is home to 79 million Baby Boomers. Every day, 50,000 retire.
There are 27 Vintage Race Clubs in the US that stage an estimated 170 events per year.
Today, approximately 30,000 members in the 27 Clubs race Vintage cars.
We want to get more people into Vintage racing and a primary purpose of this site is dedicated to that goal.
Even if people do not race, they are welcome to attend events and learn more about the compelling nature of motorsports and it's history..

    Stephan,
Thanks. I think I'll do that.....once I figure out how.

Yes, still have Cortina. I race the Mini and my son races the Lotus. I built the Lotus in 1966 and after many owners, he found it in 2004. I do all my own engines and chassis here in our shop.
Most all of my friends are already here. I'm the one that's a bit late.

Hi Stephen, I just learned of this site this morning. It looks terrific! I am currently club racing with PCA, but mostly I run SVRA in my Porsche as well as an Olds Achieva. I look forward to making more friends through this site! Peter

Stephen, this is fantastic idea, a social site for us vintage racers! I feel rather isolated in AZ we only have one or two
    events/year, even with 4 tracks (Firebird-3, PIR-1) in the
area..Maybe this site will be the catalyst for getting a local VR group started.

Thanks for the complements, I'll upload more pictures when I can. I rebuilt the Elan from a bare frame..The current shot is
from the Feb 2005 HSR event at PIR, taken at the entry to
    turn 2..

Alan is good people. I think he felt worse about it than I did. I look at it from a racer's perspective, if you cannot afford to loose it, keep it in the garage. Besides, the black car handled like crap (I only added the cage and engine before racing) and the white car "Rusty Booger" is a real race car I built from scratch...I'll post a couple more photos.

Your on, Stephan...Only a coke, though.
I'm gonna make another race in Texas before I quit, promise. I lived on a 95 acre parcel on the west boundary fence of DFW, once upon a time. Brother-in-law still lives in Burrleson and we have 5.5 acres up in Montague county.

    $5/gal. at 5mpg.....hmmmmmmm?

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the warm, and thoughtful welcome. It is good to get to share vintage racing with others, sometimes for those of us who live outside of a racing hotbed our spouses have long since reached overload.

Since you asked, or at least left me an opening, I race a 1963 Elva Courier and a 1966 Ladybird mk. 7 ( a Classic Clubmans 1.6 L ) with SOVREN and HMSA in the pacific northwest and northern California. We look forward to following your website and will pass this page along to our racing friends.

    Thanks again.

I will pass this on to our clients, but the decision to link to your site is up to them. Where would you put the reciprocal link on your site?

thanks for the welcome. I'm on the road right now and don't have photos available. I have an Alfa Romeo GTV that I am modifying with GTAm body work. It's finally ready for the paint shop. The motor, suspension, brakes, wheels, etc have already been highly upgraded. I'm not sure it will be eligible for certain vintage races given the alterations I have made. We'll have to see. If nothing else, it's a great track day car.

Thanks for the comments on Pix. With my father, we've been going to vintage races for about 10 years. Before losing his sight, he raced a Fiat 600 around the Northwest in the early 70's.

We plan on unveiling the "new" 850 at the Seattle Historics, AND will be travelling down to Monterey for their events. Maybe with his Masserati ))

    Hi Stephen,
I did not know Alfa was the featured marque at Monterey, sadly I will not be there firstly my car would not be accepted because it has a 1750 engine (should be 1600) and also the cost of transpotation and the subsequent weekend would be too much of a strain on the racing budget.
    D***.

    thanks for the note.

I will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 12th with my Datsun. Will you or anyone from VRL be there?

    Hey,

I have been up all night making updates to the site. You probably logged on in between my updates. The site looks fine now. I have been recoding the backend and making upgrade modifications to MYVRL. I have been pulling "all-nighters" for the last three nights. So if you just happen to loggin in the middle of the night, and see something different that just because I am up making the modifications. There are a lot of good stuff coming.

  • Stephen Page

hmmm...let me send you an email to that address and see what error message if any I get back. I will send it shortly.

Can't seem to stop collecting. I race in TX mostly MSRH and TWS. Next week going to PA for the dbl nat at Pocono with one of the FF.

    Thanks Steven,
I've had a blast putting the car together and racing it. I still feel like a newbie, this is my third year with HSR. I raced at Sebring last February and that really "rounded out" the whole vintage racing experience. If you haven't been there I recommend it.
For the past several years I've participated in the Mid-America Ford Performance vintage exhibition race at Hallett, OK. Most of the other vintage racers are CVAR members, I can truly say they are a class group of guys with outstanding cars. I always have a great time.
  • SO-CAL-Jim

Great chat today- are you getting my e-mails? Thanks Jim
  • Michael McKinley

SO sorry I missed you at Monterey Stephen! Got Caught up in a bunch of things and never got around to calling you. One of our friends was having car trouble just outside of Seaside and we lost a lot of our racing day on Sunday. I'll try to hook up with you on a later event!

    Hello Stephen,
and thanks for the email. I stumbled across this site by accident and found it to be pretty interesting. I have already invited my racing friends from Pittsburgh and the PVGP to join. I see that Dan DelBianco, the Executive Director has already joined. I am on the Advisory Board for the event so maybe I could talk to a few of the other members about how we could become more active. I'll keep you posted. Next race for us is Sept 20 and 21 at the new Lightening track at Thunderbolt Raceway, New Jersey Motorsport Park in Millville, NJ....looks pretty exciting as there is a vintage airshow - the Wheels and Warbirds Airshow that will be going on as part of the weekend festivities . Will you be going?
  • Doug Bruce

    Stephen,

Nice site you have created. I notice you race with CVAR. I am going to tow 10 hours out to Hallett to race the Bugeye in October, will you be racing there as well?

    Cheers,

Hello Stephen. I was a support team member in 1995 for Angel Martinez (piloto) and Peyton Feltus (co-piloto).
That was the year Rusty Ward went to the bridge and just volunteered to wrench for any team that would have him. He said at the time, "I'm scouting this out so I can build a car and compete." He certainly made good on that statement. The Federale car was a true inspiration. My wife and I took vacation in San Miguel Allende to meet the coyote convoy last year and had a great time. I am glad to see it has expanded and we will be there to compete in the poker run and any other mayhem that is available. Thanks for the invitation to join your page. David
  • John Bechtol

Thanks for the welcome, Stephen. I will try to get some photos posted. John
  • David Leavell

    Stephen,
I re-read your story of the race with Rusty with all the trouble and it is a very descriptive account of the Carrera. Well written. We did not crash, but had some incredible mechanical failures that (someone), there always has to be "someone" helped us get on track again. David and I actually did the race in 1998 not 1995 in a car sponsored by John Jung. Since he was racing a 1951 Ford coupe in the same class, we felt it prudent to make sure he took 1st Lugar , which he did.

You're welcome! I love that picture. This is a great site! Also I noticed that you all have incorporated a chat function. This feature is better than any other social site out there. Also I think the WSJ would love to do a story on this! I happen to know the editor also!! A site like this would definitely bump out Facebook and MySpace!

    All the best,

    Hi Stephen,
What is your opinion regarding members of this site who essentially own very nice new street Ferrari's? Shouldn't we restrict this to pure race cars? I own a Ferrari too but it won't be a subject on this site for me. This is purely 'vintage RACING....' right?
