The Vintage Racing League is the leading online community for people who love racing and cars. Its free to join.
Members connect with people that share a love of specific marques or types of cars (e.g. Vintage, Historic, Classic, Antique,Formula Ford, Can-Am, Trans-Am, GT and/or Historic Formula One cars).
The VRL helps members find difficult to locate parts, restoration resources, race events and car clubs in your area.
You can exchange pictures and race videos and find "same car soulmates".
I look forward to seeing some of your vintage race video's.
FYI - I'm the co-founder of The Vintage Racing League.
I owned and raced a 1975 Crossle Formula Ford. I currently own and race a 1980 March Formula Atlantic and intend to rebuild and race a 1977 Shadow DN8 F1 car.
I race with CVAR in the Southwest.
I live in Dallas.
VRL Factoids:
An estimated 4 million people in the USA own Vintage, Historic, Classic and Antique cars (10 million world-wide).
The USA is home to 79 million Baby Boomers. Every day, 50,000 retire.
There are 27 Vintage Race Clubs in the US that stage an estimated 170 events per year.
Today, approximately 30,000 members in the 27 Clubs race Vintage cars.
We want to get more people into Vintage racing and a primary purpose of this site is dedicated to that goal.
Even if people do not race, they are welcome to attend events and learn more about the compelling nature of motorsports and it's history..
About: WWW.THEVRL.COM
We created a place where owners and lovers of vintage, historic, classic and antique cars could find each other, exchange pictures, videos and information about how to fix, restore, and race cars.

Hi Stephen, thanks to invite me to join this wonderful community. Before anything, just one little question: how do you knew that I have interest in vintage cars? Right now I'm working on a exhaustive research about the origins of the Venezuelan motor racing history and in the near future, if the things going well, I will prepare my first book about the races in Venezuela during late 40's and beyond.
Receive my best regards, sorry for my poor English

I would like to take a moment to thank you for inviting me to join VRL. I look forward to talking with you more in the near future as well as with other member here.
Hi Steve, Thanks for inviting me into your group. Could you explane in further detail about expanding my operation within your site. As you can see, I am a little slow on the computer planet....TX Jim H.
Many thanks for the kind words Stephen, i know you and your wife are fond of italy, do let me know if in a future you are coming over, drop in and meet us.:-))
And many compliments for your tasks and achievements.
All the best.
Karlo
Thank you Stephen. It was a surprise and a delight meeting you last week. Thank you for the opportunity to work with you on this project. We are currently doing the team forming activities. As you can tell, I am as green as it gets when it comes to vintage cars. I will get in touch with you at the earliest once we transform the group into a team and have a basic plan.
Wet wet then it rained. Friday and Saturday were both very wet, Sunday was spotty with some dry mixed with rain. Hardly any sun. I have loaded a few images from the weekend and hope to get some of the GT cars loaded today.
Thank you so much, Stephen! Our group is excited and ready to get busy!
I see there's a race this Sunday in Fort Worth for the Central region, it looks like. Will you be there? I actually live in Fort Worth and I'm thinking about attending the race to learn more about the events. Let me know if I should look for you!
Hi Stephen. Thank you for your note. I appreciate your comments and your encouragement. I hope one day soon we'll get the opportunity to meet in person. All the best from gearhead girls racing!
Hey Steve, I love the site, and will update my profile shortly, but it would seem the site has already been invaded by the track-tarts. I got an invite from a "Timika Morin" on my page and with one click, saw it was a web-cam invite, and she'd sent it to about 25 members of the site. I mean...if she'd just sent it to ME....I guess she made feel kinda cheap that's all....(It's hard to be funny in print.)
Thank you! It's an incredible organization to be involved in! Sorry for the delay in responding. I had heck of a time logging in and figuring out where your comment was at! LOL
Stephen,
As I mentioned, my father was a racing fanatic from the 50's through his passing and was also an avid phototgrapher. I've been sorting through thousands of images and I've hired a company to upload some of them, many of which are of the cars I see on this site (these are actual vintage photos of the actual races... not contemporary photos of vintage races taken recently).
The site will rely on people adding information about each of the cars so that they come up on searches, and I will eventually like to invite your members to check it out and maybe add their knowledge to the data-base. (Like a Wikipedia of sorts) The images will be available for sale, but at a modest price, as this isn't really a commercial venture for me -- just a way to honor my dad.
If you are interested, check out the first round of scanned images at this link and let me know what you think.
Great! Thank you. As soon as we upload the majority and the site has a link set up so people can browse and input their knowledge, I'll shoot over some sample images and expaination for member to play with it.
It is really fun to look through these as I love the fact that I know my dad was at each of these races and I am seeing his hobby through his eyes. I was going to all of the Can-Am races at Bridgehampton since I was one.. and I remember my dad shooting pictures for what seemed like an eternity. Now I'm glad he did!
Hi Stephen,
A really great site that you have here! I plan to try to do more things with my profile and make some new friends. Do me a favor and checkout CarProperty.com ... It is a media business that I started and it is catching on amongst car collectors all over the world. I hope your friends find out about it to. See you later ... and thanks again!
hi mate i have had someone join called monty rustbucket join and put me down as a friend this is ov someone waisting our time and making a joke you must have there e mail adress and you can act as you want thanks
I will definitely see about creating a Car Property Group on the site ... It should be interesting. I will send you an email about web site links and so forth so we can discuss it ... the idea sounds great.
Hi Stephen I should have time this weekend to add pics. What livery did your car originally have and or which version of the DN8 was your car or that your restoring it to as they seemed to be updated over a 4+ year period with different bodywork, among other things, updates. I always liked the 1A with stepped radiators from 1976 although it was not the most successful style. Gary Kildall had one, it was one of the first in private hands he lived down the way from Don. He was mysteriously killed in a bar about 4 years ago. He was an interesting guy and he gave me a sort of biography of his car. I saw one sell not long after he passed and figured it was the one he owned. Have some pictures of it from the Palm Springs GP back in the early 80's then met him at Monterey in the early 90's where he had it on display but did not race it. Have met Don many times as well as his daughter Penny. Being in printing I got a card from him the first time I met him at the W.G. Can Am reunion in early 90's they we so bad I made up some artwork and made him some new ones and mailed them to him, I talk to him at the races when I see him.
Well glad to hear you are restoring one of the cars I have collected many pics on the net and from my own shooting so I can get you pics of your model if i know which one it is. My friend Phill Schmit had one as well a 79 car that was put together from parts and was supposedly a backup car or an in-completed chassis in waiting but never raced back in the day but he sold it about 1 1/2 ago to Fred who owns about 4 different Shadow cars now. Well could go on and on so let me stop here. Here is my reg. email if you need it m7buck55@earthlink.net and I will be at Wine Co. and am shooting on track if you have another car your racin let me know and i'll get some shots.
Thanks Mike
Hi Steve I'm going to post a few pics this weekend and just want to know what version of DN8 body work / livery that you are going to use on your Shadow?
Mike
Interesting that this page should open with a photo of my father's old Bugatti Type 57S before coming to this comment page? I am a member of three Morgan groups and one Riley group. I am not aware of any others? If you go to the VSCCA site you will see many pictures of my cars plus many more glamorous race cars.
Mike
Hi there Stephen, thank you for your welcome, I was at sandown raceway since Friday helping friends instead of being helped for once and had a ball not spending my money....... It was one of those odd weekends, so many big crashers in most categories, they say about 2mill worth of damage throughout the meeting. And I got busted speeding on the way home (naughty lad). I will post some photos of my cars soon. Once again thank for the welcome, talk soon,
Regards, mark.
Hello Stephen, thank you for your welcome and for adding me to your friends list. I look forward to getting to know you and the others here on this site. I bounce between Richmond, VA and Westminster, MD... just in case anyone wants to try and get together some time.

Don't be so bloody stupid lol"
I don't know her & it seems she sent the same comment to just about everyone on the VRL.
