Hi Robert,
All sounds very interesting and somewhat exciting. Have to say I'm impressed that you've managed to sample some Aussie Touring Cars. I used to be a massive fan but like most, my interest these days seems to revolve around the cars I witnessed as a youngster.
I like the idea of doing a co-pro - I have already shot a large number of feature stories on significant cars - I'm happy to send you a draft edit of one of the features so that you can see where I'm coming from.
As mentioned earlier -Historic Racing here gets very little coverage and I have now been able to secure a broadcast deal with one of the free-to-air broadcasters here in Australia. I have taken the approach of focusing on the car's history so not an event type coverage. This is I think the most interesting angle and one that really hasn't been pushed at all in this region. In fact not sure I've seen too much of it abroad either. I have seen the Speed Channel but it's not available here - at least as far a I know.
If you could send me your personal email address, I will send you a link so you can download one of the stories - you might have to put up with my voice as the narrator but obviously do this as a guide for cutting - in any case you will get a pretty good impression of where I'm coming from.
Cheers,
Greg
Hi Robert,
Apologies for the delay in responding but been one of those weeks. WOW sounds like quite a nice thing to be semi retired, especially looking after the art collection - my wife would kill to spend her days roaming around art galleries and museums so I will need to keep our association under wraps for some time !!
To answer your question, I have worked with most major networks here in Australia and have been in the industry for the past 25 years. Most of my work now comes from abroad, in fact have spent the vast majority of the last 12 years living and working in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. I came back home late last year and now trying to re-establish myself in my home town. My passion is motor sport - especially the historic side - so made the decision to invest in some documentary programming and see if I could make a go of it. I'm not sure how it is over there but Historic or Vintage Racing receives very little exposure over here - something I'm hoping to correct. Look forward to hearing from you at some stage.
Best,
Greg
