Ford Mk. IV

Ford Racing Legends This Saturday With Greg Kolasa

Join us on Saturday, January 11th at Noon for our first event of 2014: a Racing Legends profile of the Ford GT40. We’ll have both our Mk.II and Mk. IV on display. Weather permitting, we will take one (or both!) out for a run after the presentation.
Plus we will have Shelby American Automobile Club Historian Greg Kolasa here to provide an in-depth discussion about these ground-breaking cars and the story of how they came about.

Admission to the January 11th Racing Legends Day is included with regular museum admission.

This Racing Legends Day is part of a significantly expanded schedule of events here at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in 2014 (see below). We hope to see all of you at this event.

 Demo Days

2014 Demo Day / Racing Legends Schedule Released

Because of the enormous success of our monthly Demonstration Days events, the Simeone Museum will be expanding the event schedule for 2014. Beginning this Saturday, January 11th, we will also have a "Racing Legends" series on the second Saturday of each month at Noon.
These events will be more technical in nature than the Demo Days and will feature a lecture on the designated topic for that day. Cars from the collection, and from other collections, will be used to illustrate the presentation. Afterward, one or more of the cars will be demonstrated, weather permitting.

The full 2014 Event Schedule is now available on our Web site, here

Visitors are encouraged to check the Museum’s Web site before coming for any last minute changes. Admission to the Demo Days and Legend Days is included as part of the regular admission price.

Cobra Daytona Coupe And Pete Brock Reunited

In the middle of a mid-December snowfall, legendary Cobra Daytona Coupe Designer Pete Brock came to the museum with his lovely wife, Gayle, to be reunited with CSX2287 and to film a video about its historical importance.

The visit was part of an effort by the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) to have our Cobra be the first automobile to be designated on the new National Register of Historic Vehicles.

Brock's interview was taped as part of the designation submission process and he shared many interesting points about the design and history of our Daytona. The Daytona was also scanned with a high-tech 3D camera to record every detail in the body design. We hope to have a DVD of the video interview available shortly in our gift shop.

Thank you to Mark Gessler and everyone involved with the HVA for their efforts to gain this recognition for significant American historic vehicles.

2014 Best Of Britain To Feature "Kissing Cousins"

Our "Best of Britain" show this year will feature English sedans that were mechanically very similar to their sports car cousins. In many cases the manufacturers marketed the sedans as an alternative for people who wanted a sports car but had a growing family. The show will run from February 15th to March 2nd

The pairings will include: Austin Marina/MGB, MG Magnette/MGA, MG 1100/Midget, MG YB/TD, Triumph Herald/Spitfire, Triumph 2000/TR7, Rover 3500/TR8, Jaguar Mk II/S/420/XKE, Jaguar Mk VII/VIII/IX/ XK-120/140. Jaguar XJ-12/XJS, Daimler Saloon/SP 250, Lotus Cortina/Lotus Elan.

If you or someone you know has a nice (preferably original) example of any of the above models and would like to have it on display for the Best of Britain show, please send an email with photos to: Harry Hurst, harry@simeonemuseum.org, to be considered.

The Simeone Web Store selection includes The Spirit of Competition, The Stewardship of Historically Important Automobiles, Memberships, Tickets and the popular Simeone Cars t-shirt, available in several colors.

The site accepts all major credit cards. Click here to go to the site.

Simeone Mobile Phone App Now Available

The Simeone Museum now has a mobile phone app that features over four hours of audio on the cars and exhibits in the collection. Dr. Simeone narrates the tour, which includes fascinating details about the history and the significance of each car.

The Simeone Museum mobile app includes 86 stops on the tour, each accompanied by a photo of the car or venue, and a brief text description. The audio length varies for each stop, but averages several minutes.

The mobile app is free and is available for either Andriod phones (Google Store) or iPhones (Apple Store). To find the app, just search for "Simeone Museum."

Please let us know if you like it and if you see anything that can be improved. The app and content takes about 120 mb of space. It should take about 3-5 minutes to download with a 4G network.
