August the AvD Historic Marathon is run over the notorious Nordschleife and modern GP course at the 'Ring. With a grid that combines Italian exotica, fast and reliable Jaguar E-types, lightweight Lotuses and 911s, it’s a tough challenge for ‘Fred and Barney’, the regular drivers of the 500bhp Fairlane. The pairing has a plan, though. “The Fairlane is a simple car... but not quite so ‘simple’ in the bends. So, on the straight we drive the car, and in the curves we let it drive us.” The onboard video from last year gives you an idea of exactly what they mean:
