Registration Open for MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge Class

Skip Barber Racing School is proud to announce registration is now open for the Skip Barber Racing School MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge class in the 2012 SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Series. Only eleven spots are available for application for racers who have completed five or more Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge race weekends. With eleven races split up over eight race weekends at legendary tracks including Sebring International Raceway, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Road America, this new class provides another step in the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder for racers aiming to race professionally in sports cars. The winner of the Skip Barber Racing School MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge class will receive funding to compete in the full 2013 SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Series.  

The application deadline is Friday, February 3, 2012, so get started now. Here is some basic information, but for full details, racing rules and SCCA information, contact your Series Advisor at 800.221.1131 today! 

Qualifications:

o    All applicants must have completed at least 5 Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge race weekends and be approved by Race Series

o    Driver must submit the MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge application to Skip Barber Racing School by 2/3/2012 (Available through Series Advisors and skipbarber.com

All finalists will be contacted the week of 2/13/2012

Details:

            $50,000 all-inclusive

o    In-Car video/data feedback

o    Entry Fees

o    Test Day

o    Custom racing suit from K1 Race Gear

o    Television exposure

o    Name displayed on the cars all season

Driver must commit to full season ($50,000)

            Insurance is not included

FASTPASS cannot be used towards MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge

 

Prizes:

o    1st Place – Full season in Mazda MX5 Playboy Cup Series for 2013

o    2nd Place – Full season in Skip Barber Racing School MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge

o    3rd Place – Half season in Skip Barber Racing School MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge

           Additional prizes may be added and announced at a later date

June 21-23                    NASCAR Nationwide Series/Grand-AM Rolex Series, Elkhart Lake WI (Road America)

July 25-28                     Mosport International Raceway, Bowmanville ON (Mosport International Raceway)

September 12-15           Virginia International Raceway, Alton VA (Virginia International Raceway)

September 20-22           Coronado Speed Festival, San Diego CA (North Island Naval Base Coronado)

*October 15-20               Petit LeMans, Braselton GA (Road Atlanta)
