In conjunction with its feature exhibition “Fantasies in Fiberglass” (on view until October 2010), the Petersen Automotive Museum is hosting Fiberglass Day on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Museum’s parking structure. The highlight of Fiberglass Day will be the public fiberglass car show open to any vehicle with a primarily fiberglass body. Show participants and museum visitors may take advantage of a morning informational session on the current and upcoming requirements for registering a kit car, hot rod, or specially constructed vehicle with the DMV; get all the details about GM’s new E-Rod LS3 California emission compliant crate engine; and attend technical how-to sessions with Griot’s Garage car care products, the Official Car Care Product Provider of the Petersen Automotive Museum. The day’s events will wrap up with a historic panel of fiberglass legends Bruce Meyers, Harry Hansen, Merrill Powell, and Harold Pace sharing stories of their vehicles, careers, and exploits, facilitated by fiberglass historian Geoff Hacker.
Car show pre-registration is only $10 and all programs are available to museum visitors with paid admission on June 26. For more information, or to register your fiberglass car for the show, go to: http://www.petersen.org/default.cfm?docid=1075
