Pete Lyons’ Velocity Calendar 2015 grows out of his earlier Can-Am Calendar series published by Octane Press. This earlier work drew on images and impressions amassed while covering the technically spectacular Canadian-American Challenge Cup series of 1966-74. However, the Lyons archive holds much more and the Velocity Calendar 2015 draws on this fresh material. While some drivers seen here were Can-Am competitors, we must not forget that, in the style of their day, they were equally proficient with other kinds of machines. Whatever they drove, their achievements in America helped secure their immortality on the world stage.
