haven't seen Billy since he lived behind Bob Hutchinsons' house on Friendy Road in high school. You would also not believe the attention to detail these old race cars get.
Even though they're old technology they are extremely quick & can really do damage to your body if parts fly off @ speed.
They all are basically maintained like an airplane with mucho attention to detail and safety.
the old muscle cars were street cars but their value has gone up to unbelievable levels b/c of Barrett-Jackson Auctions ect and it almost takes the fun out of driving them b/c you're so anal about scratching them or someone touching the wrong thing and leaving a fingerprint!!!
If you know Culpeppers' email hook him up to this website and we will all talk about the good old days.
I want to vintage race my car when it is finished regardless of the value b/c thats' where It brings the most attention when folks can see and HEAR it run. I really don't want to sell it but enjoy driving it @ track events up & down the east coast and US......that gets pricy so we'll see how far I get.
This is basically my retirement car when I finally do sell it b/c its' better than any stock as its' value just goes up and up.

Ck out the new photos I added of my car!!!.....those side draft Webers were only on the six "Grand Sport" competition Corvettes that Duntov created. Very hard to find........actually, the car ran better with the 48MM ida downdraft carbs and you can see the car both ways in the photos, but I'm restoring it with the side drafts, as I want it to look exactly like the R&T cover photo when it was new.
The 58MM side drafts were just too big for the 369 cu. in. motor and were later abandoned for the 4 each-48MM carbs.
Note it had a basically STOCK Delco-Remy distributor with SINGLE! points!!!!! This motor makes max torque @ 4500 rpms. (making 525 lbs.-feet!!!!!), so thats' basically your shift point and doesn't stress the motor @ those rpms. After that, the torque drops off.
Max horsepower for the motor I have was 509 hp @ 6500rpm but there the torque is 411 lbs-ft.........Torque is basically that kick in the butt you get coming off the corners and is most important.
You know, this car doesn't weigh but 1505 lbs....race wt-no fuel and 2040 lbs....2 up, 30 gallons fuel.....(it holds 55 gallons!!!). Needless to say, its' a huge rush to drive even if it was built in 1966.
Its' all about hp to weight.
