Profile Information

About Me:
I am a diehard auto enthusiast, and a purist of sorts. I love to restore old cars, particularly American prewar classics and European (both continental and British) sports and luxury cars, I am also enthusiastic about beer, preferring St. Pauli Girl, Beck's, Grolsch, Heineken and Trappist ales over American brews, and I am in a great relationship with my lovely domestic partner of 15 years. However, I have been married twice before, one failed due to the wife's immaturity, and the other because she worshipped my mechanical aptitude more than me in general. Neither divorce had anything to do with the cars or the beer. Lastly, I am a semi-retired auto mechanic but still work on my own cars and boats and those of friends and family, and I have two daughters, aged 34 and 22, who are as nuts about cars as I am and are oddly knowledgeable about Lucas electrical systems.
What car(s) do you own?
Well, I started off with a 1931 Model A Ford leatherback Victoria, and I had a long series of MGs, Triumphs, Fiats, Sunbeams, Hillmans, English Fords, Volkswagens, Jeeps and assorted kit cars after that, and I now have a 1963 Triumph TR4 with a 1960s fiberglass coupe body, a 1953 Siata coupe that I just got done restoring, a 1973 Peugeot 504, a 1981 BMW 733i, a 1979 Lancia Beta Zagato, a 1952 Kaiser Manhattan, a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 220SE sedan, a partially-finished replica of a 1935 Riley Sprite that is based on a 1965 Triumph Spitfire, a 1970 Bond Bug three-wheeler, a 1950 Hillman Minx saloon, a 1978 Dodge Magnum, a BMW police motorcycle=based Grinnall Scorpion trike, and a 1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper two-door club coupe. As for boats, I have a 1941 Chris-Craft 18' mahogany runabout with a Chrysler flathead six, and I used to own a 1932 Harley-Davidson motorcycle before my back got too bad to ride it.
What do you like to do (e.g. vintage race with...)?
I don't really race, per se, but I do autocrosses and slaloms with my Lancia and my Siata, and I participate in vintage-car shows and in photographing interesting derelict collector cars. I also build model cars and collect them
What clubs do you belong to?
For privacy reasons, I will not state which ones I belong to except that they are local in nature.
What would you like to do (e.g. go to race school; get into Vintage Racing)?
I have pretty much achieved all my goals and dreams, but I would like to get into the restoration of 1930s grand classics like Bugattis, Duesenbergs, Rolls-Royces, Lagondas, Delahayes, Talbot-Lagos, and Mercedes-Benzes of the S, SS, SSK, 770 and 500/540 varieties.
