I have been covering various aspects of the automotive business for 30 years, including more than 15 years as a reviewer of new cars and trucks for a number of newspapers in Canada. I have lately developed an interest in older sports and GT cars.
What car(s) do you own?
1997 Chevrolet Malibu ... but I am constantly driving new cars and trucks for review so I don't need anything fancy.
What do you like to do (e.g. vintage race with...)?
I like to interview owners of older cars and ask them about their experiences. I also like taking older cars on back road drives. I competed in the Targa Newfoundland in 2003 and 2004.
What clubs do you belong to?
Charter member of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (formed 1981)
What would you like to do (e.g. go to race school; get into Vintage Racing)?
Over my 30 years as a working journalist, I have been fortunate to drive some amazing cars, including two days in the Italian Alps in a 1934 BMW 319 and 1958 BMW 507. I have been driven around the Le Mans circuit in the Jaguar XJ13 and England's MIRA test track in Carroll Shelby's Le Mans-winning Aston Martin DBR1. I have received driving instruction and tips from Sir Jackie Stewart, Hurley Haywood, Rauno Aaltonen, Petter Solberg, Paul Dallenbach and others. Not bad for a hack. I just want to keep doing this and meet others who love sporting cars, old and new.
