Randy Cook's '59 Ferrari 250GT PF Coupe also is known as a "Bowtie Ferrari" because it is powered by a Chevy V8 motor. Back in the '50s and '60s people who raced Ferraris found it next to impossible to get parts from Italy to rebuild their motors. So, some enterprising owners dropped small block Chevy motors into their cars and raced for many years in SCCA modified division frequently beating Ferrari powered cars. The owner of this car, Randy Cook, is putting the finishing touches on a book about "Bowtie Ferraris" cataloging over 70 cars that at one time had a Chevy engine. Those that survived into the modern era became collectables and their owners ditched the Chevy engine for a Ferrari and then sold the car at auction for big bucks. Imagine, back in the '50s and early '60s you could have purchased a Ferrari race car for just over $1000. Today that same car might be worth millions.
