Everyone expected Porsche to win Daytona in 1969. If not them then the Ford GT40s had the next best chance. Much to everyone's surprise the often fragile Lola T70 came in first and second. The #6 Roger Penske Lola T70 Mk. 3B of Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons came in first and the #8 Lola T70 Mk. 3GT of Ed Leslie and Lothar Motschenbacher came in second.
