The Zora Duntov designed Chevrolet Corvette SS that raced at Sebring in 1957. The car had a magnesium body and a 4.8-liter engine and was driven by John Fitch and Piero Taruffi. It had great potential but failed to finish due to a broken suspension.

Stephen:
It survived the '57 race and GM immediately retired it and put it in their museum. This happened because the big-three auto makers made a pact to not support factory racing efforts. However, GM brought it out for the grand opening of the Daytona Speedway in 1959 doing record laps on the tri-oval. On special occasions they put this historic car on display for the public.
