1961: Kieft Elva Courier. David Prophet's first Kieft car.

David sold his "second-hand, oil-thirsty" Austin-Healy to buy this car. He bought this from the Kieft Sports Co Ltd for £950 (not including engine). He did not like any of Kieft 3 standard colours and had it sprayed midnight blue for an extra £10. This was to become one of his favourite racing colours (and could be found on rugs, curtains and wallpapers throughout our house as we grew up). Kieft was based locally to him, in Birmingham. A scan of the original order is in the Memorabilia section. He built this car himself, and wrote an article about that process (as documented in Sporting Motorist, in Press). The car was also regularly driven on the road and has the registration number YNP 255.
