Steel hood

The outside shape of the hood is laser cut. We then laser cut 52 tiny slits for each louvre to remove any stress on the metal when the louvres are pressed. The flat sheet is then hand-fed into huge metal rollers to shape the hood to meet the body edges. The hood is then turned over and each louvre is then hydrolically pressed with a die. This procedure is done by hand, in that each louvre is lined up by eye and fed forward to the next one for pressing. The craftsman has two conditions: he only does it AFTER his morning coffee, he wants no one to talk to him as he does his work.
We chose metal over aluminium as the latter is too delicate and paint does not adhere well to aluminium.
