The event is the Pittsburgh Grand Prix held last weekend on the streets of Schenley Park. It is the last street race being held in the U.S. and is a charity race of the highest quality. The course is scary cause of the curbing, fire hydrants, trees, signs, etc, but what a rush!!!! Volunteers were great, food good, weather exceptional, and the paddock is a park too.
The car is a 1959 BMC Huffaker mk1, front engined Junior, chassis no. 12 of 20 produced. The car was purchased from Guy Frost out East and restored over the past winter. I did the chassis up restoration with motor rebuild by PHP Engines of Wauconda, IL. All done to the letter of the rules as it was in period (no disk brakes).
Next event is the Formula Junior Festival at Hallett Raceway near Tulsa in Early October 2009. Hope to see all the Juniors there.
