The Vintage Racing League is the leading online community for people who love racing and cars. Its free to join.
Members connect with people that share a love of specific marques or types of cars (e.g. Vintage, Historic, Classic, Antique,Formula Ford, Can-Am, Trans-Am, GT and/or Historic Formula One cars).
The VRL helps members find difficult to locate parts, restoration resources, race events and car clubs in your area.
You can exchange pictures and race videos and find "same car soulmates".
I look forward to seeing some of your vintage race video's.
FYI - I'm the co-founder of The Vintage Racing League.
I owned and raced a 1975 Crossle Formula Ford. I currently own and race a 1980 March Formula Atlantic and intend to rebuild and race a 1977 Shadow DN8 F1 car.
I race with CVAR in the Southwest.
I live in Dallas.
VRL Factoids:
An estimated 4 million people in the USA own Vintage, Historic, Classic and Antique cars (10 million world-wide).
The USA is home to 79 million Baby Boomers. Every day, 50,000 retire.
There are 27 Vintage Race Clubs in the US that stage an estimated 170 events per year.
Today, approximately 30,000 members in the 27 Clubs race Vintage cars.
We want to get more people into Vintage racing and a primary purpose of this site is dedicated to that goal.
Even if people do not race, they are welcome to attend events and learn more about the compelling nature of motorsports and it's history..
About: WWW.THEVRL.COM
We created a place where owners and lovers of vintage, historic, classic and antique cars could find each other, exchange pictures, videos and information about how to fix, restore, and race cars.
Ask your friends to join the Vintage Racing League @ www.thevrl.com.
Feel free to create new groups, post pictures for us all to share and share the site with your friends.
Welcome to the Vintage Racing League.
Warmest regards - Stephen Page
Chairman & CEO
What car(s) do you own?
1977 Shadow F1 DN8 (in restoration), 1980 March Formula Atlantic, my first car - a 1954 Jensen Interceptor, 1981 Kougar Sports Car, MB ML 500, MB 500S. Previously owned and raced a 1975 Crossle Formula Ford.
What do you like to do (e.g. vintage race with...)?
Race with CVAR in the Southwest.
Attend as many Vintage, Historic and Concours events as possible each year, to include the Monterey Historics, the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the Goodwood Revival.
What would you like to do (e.g. go to race school; get into Vintage Racing)?
Improve my Vintage and Historic racing skills. Share the unique history, passion and excitement of vintage/historic racing via the VRL and expose as many people as possible to the sport.
Well, well that's interesting what a coincidence! We've had a great Summer thus far packed with motoring events as Goodwood, Silverstone and Beaulieu coming up in September with Goodwood Revival too! Also looking fwd to the Salon Prive and St. James's classics. We're off to the Isle of Wight classic car show and stopping off in Portsmouth to see the (new) Mary Rose exhibition...can report back on these events for your readers interest.
My favored vintage race has to be Coronado in September. May be, just may be My son will drive my 57 Alfa next year. He was a race instructor in Las Vegas for many years. Has raced everything from my car to F2000, FF, Int'l sedans to Damon Hill's F1 car plus all kinds of exotic cars. His first race when he was 15 (didn't have his driver license yet). Anyway we are a racing family. My grand son, 14, races a GoKart and is winning.
A NICE SURPRISE. YOUR KINDNESS TO THIS OLD RACER IS APPRECIATED. WOULD LIKE TO MEET YOU AT THE GOODWOOD REVIVAL THIS SEPTEMBER. DROP BY THE MERCEDES FACTORY PADDOCK . I''M THE ONE IN THE FERRARI JUMP SUIT. THE OLD POOP SPORTING A GOATEE. CIAO
Thank you Stephen for the warm welcome. I was on a few other group sites before coming here and found you all on Google. What an amazing site, you all are so much more user friendly and the site is so easy to get around!! Given all the rich content on the site I can see this will take me some time to learn my way.
I had a racing colleague of mine recommend you all to me saying it was the best racing website out there and I needed to join. Well done.
Good day Stephen! You're my first contact with VRL, It looks like there's lots do discover here. Where are you? I'm on the coast of calif. not too far from Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow race courses. I'm less interested in racing than playing with the cars, maybe if I spent time racing, I'd find it more interesting, driving old non competitive cars against cars that have had hundreds of thousands dumped into them isn't very rewarding, VINTAGE racing initially was supposed to be a means of excersising our crocks, not less expensive SCCA racing.
I think the mindset is different in the UK with many still enjoying olde cars as a hobby, not an investment. Perhaps that's what this site is about.
How's that for starting RANT,
Cheers
I cannot post a photo to my page. It is a small jpg. Something wrong with your settings. This is why you see everyone using the same photo of the red turner. Thx, Bill
Thanks for the email. You have created a great site!
I signed up as I am looking to contract Brian Stark (http://www.thevrl.com/photo/1975-chevron-b297516). I dont think he is active and I was wondering if you could send him an email that I am looking to contact him. He has posted a few times about the above car which was my father's, and wanted to know if he still owned it.
I was interested that you included the tirade from Jeremy Clarkson about F1 and Rallying! As a former fan I now regard him as loathsome! He organised a "comparative test" of (iirc) a Maserati Merak, a Ferrari GT4 and a Lamborghini Urraco P250. They drove them literally to destruction (e.g. engine parts appearing through the exhaust system after knowing the engine oil was very low) for the enjoyment of barbarians - it was a complete disgrace and I have never watched Clarkson since (and that was around 10 years ago). I am glad he has gone, hopefully for good! Andy Owler
Thanks for adding me Stephen - my main interest is Alfa Romeos, so I've joined that Group, but as anything motorsport floats my boat, having rallied and rac ed, I hope to be able to contribute here from time to time
thanks for accepting me to to your great site//--we reciprocate by inviting you TO join us on FOREVER STUDEBAKER our site dedicated to both packard and studebaker cars and trucks and their tremendous efforts in building world class engines for both ROLLS ROYCE[MERLIN] AND CURTIS WRIGHT[9CYL RADIALS] and US 6X6 STUDEBAKER TRUCKS that were instumental in assisting the russian invasion of hitler germany
thanks Steve! actually my wish list is pretty big. Even a Lola T70 replica as I can never afford a real one, A 1958 or so F1 Vanwall, Gordini, Talbot or a Cooper monaco. Oh well I will have to settle for most of these as slot cars I guess...........Any man can dream, right? Got to work on that 14 Peugeot this weekend.......Joy Joy
Hey Steve, I was re-reading your welcoming comment of 2008, when I was looking for a Lotus 51/61. In about 2 weeks I will finish up the 2018 season with my new RRS (JPS) liveried 61mx3. We won the SCCA CFR Championship for CF class and are about to win the Florida Cup at PBIR. It's been a great two years (first one in Vintage) getting here. Regards, Dennis
I got what looks like a Phishing contact today in Comments:
