In my younger days I had a Spitfire and hankered after a TR6 which was out of my price range. Now I own an MGB Roadster, a TR4A and a TR6 as well as few others - I run a classic car hire company - The Open Road.

Our MGB is great fun to drive, easy steering, lovely engine and fantastic gearchange. But the TR6 can wipe the floor with it. Two more cylinders and loads more bhp makes it a much quicker drive. The brakes are better, servo assisted (unlike the MGB) and I have upgraded them a bit. The road-holding is vastly superior thanks to the independent rear suspension which Triumph started on the TR4A. We have driven it across Europe 6 times and it has only let us down once (if running on 5 cylinders counts as letting us down).

For details of the cars have a look at www.theopenroad.co.uk

My wife and I have spent most of today driving our TR6 and our E-TYPE around the Cotswolds with a photographer, taking a load of photos for the web site which I am in the process of re-building. As Wallace and Gromit would say - a Grand Day Out.
