One of the nicest. cleanest, best documented cars I have ever seen. In my 40 years of Porsche wrenching I have not seen a car with this much documentation. This is a very special and beautiful 1959 356A up for sale. The same owner for the last twenty years. Car comes with records (over $125,000 in invoices)and a very extensive history. 1st owner raced in the 1960,61,62 season, finished 3rd nationally at the SCCA national run-offs in 1962. 2nd owner restored the car in early 1987. Then in 1988 raced the car in the Grand Prix of Dallas 3rd in class. Then in 1988 he raced it in the Austin/River City Road Race finishing 2nd in class. In 1988 it ran the Chicago Historic races and placed 5thin class. This 356 coupe comes with a SCCA history and log book (1989 it took first place in class at Elkhart Lake) It has a 741 gearbox out of a 356SC model with short 3rd and 4th gears and a Quaife limited slip. The shifter mechanism has been modified and is also a short throw shifter. Skirmants “Camber Regulator” It has disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors out of a 1965 356. 911 14” Fuchs alloy wheels with Yokohama AVID H4S 195 65 R14” tires. Car also has stainless steel brake lines. Steel braided oil lines lead to front external Hayden style oil cooler. Bosch 12volt 55amp alternator system. SDS (Simple Digital Programmer) Programmable fuel management system with LCD programmer (simple lean rich control knob). ADA fuel injection system MSD crank fire ignition system. Balanced and blueprinted Engine out of a 912. .025 main and rod bearings. 7706 Elgin cam shaft. Carrillo rods. QFC 1750 pistons and Iron cylinders. Balanced lightened flywheel cylinder heads have S90 valves new guide and seat work as well has porting done. 912 bridge and rockers have been installed.
During hard cornering, centrifugal force drives oil away from the standard oil pump pick-up. This car is also equipped with a Deep sumps. Which are designed to provide your engine with constant oil supply. Cast from aluminum for lightness, they help cool oil too! Also add another quart of oil to the system.
