This car is one of two chassis used in '87 by Andretti while driving for the Kraco team of Maury Kraines. He won four races that year: Milwaukee, Michigan, Nazareth and Miami finishing second in the championship to Bobby Rahal. Records are somewhat spotty, but we have been able to ascertain that each of the two chassis he used won two of those races. We think this is the car which won Michigan and Nazareth. It was bought directly from Kraco in October of 2008 and a letter of provenance accompanies the car. Kraco used the car as the centerpiece of a display in their trophy room. It is complete needing only a battery. We have gone through the hydraulics, replacing master cylinders and such to bring it to race ready condition. Unfortunately, during this preparation, we discovered the Cosworth DFX is in dire need of being freshened. We have already spoken to Chuck Corneilson at VDS engines about bringing it back to life. The present owners of the car have been hurt by the recent economic woes and would like to sell it to someone who can bring this impressive piece of history back to racing condition. It would make a good museum piece or better yet, a strong contender in the BOSS or the USSS. All reasonable offers will be considered.
