View 25 of the most exquisite, historic vintage race cars in the Southwest on Sunday, January 11, 2009. The Wellness Community is holding the 2nd annual Wheels of Wellness at its downtown Phoenix site, a restored California Craftsman-style estate on Palm Lane. The race car showcase and silent auction is from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The WoW event date is the same day as the opening of Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale auction, a.k.a. "Family Day." We feel this date is ideal for offering auction-goers an intriguing alternative, at $150 per person. The event will showcase twenty-five plus historic racecars that reflect 50 years of international racing. This year we anticipate an equally exciting and prestigious collection of racecars, including a '60 Team Camoradi Corvette, '59 Austin-Healey factory team Bugeye Sprite (Sebring class winner), Cunningham Team '58 Lister-Jaguar, Denis Hulme's '64 Brabham BT-8, IMSA Porsche 935, the '58 Joe Hunt Magneto Special champ car, a Ferrari 250 GTO, Jochen Mass' Porsche 962 and the '57 Townsend Typhoon special, among others.
Wheels of Wellness is the brainchild of a small group of Phoenix and Scottsdale business executives who are avid vintage race car collectors and drivers, and whose lives have been touched by cancer. The Wellness Community is a non-profit support center for cancer victims and their families.
